General information
What an accord is and isn't
An accord is a group of local licensees, the Police, District Licensing Agency
officers, council representatives and relevant agencies who meet quarterly to hear
the latest industry information and talk through current issues.
Alcohol accords do not restrict your business. In fact, overseas research has
shown that accords are good for business. They can create a safe and welcoming image
that leads to favourable word of mouth reports and increased numbers of repeat customers.
Joining an accord
- means you can find out the latest information on the issues that affect your business
- is a great way to put your views across to the Police, liquor licensing and noise officers, so you can make sure any of your concerns are heard.
- gives you access to free host responsibility training for you and your staff.
Current accords
There are currently six local accords overseen by the Executive Accord - Aotea,
Karangahape, Parnell, Newmarket, Ponsonby and Viaduct. Click
here for more information.
Purpose of the accords
To adopt responsible and quality practices, particularly where
the sale and consumption of liquor is involved, in order to create a pleasant and
safe community for residents, customers, visitors and employees alike.
