Partner organisations
Auckland City Council is working with a number of community and government organisations to accomplish its goal of improving the provision
of services for the homeless.
These organisations will create a more coordinated, responsive service that not only deals with individual needs but also highlights and
advocates remedial action on issues which cause homelessness.
Auckland City Mission
The City Mission's services include the provision of:
- advocacy and services to marginalised people in Auckland
- meals for families in crisis
- residential addiction facilities and community addictions programmes
- medical services
- food distribution to 70 food banks within the Auckland region
- 'Into-work' programmes for homeless people
- services for rough sleepers.
Methodist Mission Northern
The Methodist Mission's inner city services include the provision of:
- support and advocacy for homeless and marginalised people in Auckland
- daily meal service for homeless people
- clothing and access to showers
- medical advice
- professional support within the court process.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army's services include the provision of services to:
- alleviate poverty, loneliness, isolation, and exclusion
- provide comfort, food, emergency accommodation, advocacy, drug and alcohol treatment, and other person-centred social support
- actively advocate for housing policies which meet the needs of the homeless community.
