BackgroundThe Auckland-Hamburg memorandum of understanding was signed in 2007. This followed extensive research by council that identified Hamburg as the best match for a strategic alliance. The two cities have identified key areas of best practice learning and agree to support business growth in the areas of tourism, trade, education and services.
