Cycling and walking frameworks

Overview

The existing cycling and walking strategy was endorsed in 1998 following extensive consultation and collaboration with community representatives. It put in place a strategic direction for the future planning of cycling and walking in Auckland city.

The 2007 draft cycling and walking framework is a review of the 1998 strategy. It updates Auckland city's direction for planning for cycling and walking. It is in a concise format, to make it more accessible and readable. At this stage, the review does not include details of projects or priorities. These will be incorporated in the implementation or 'action plans' that will be developed once the framework is finalised. The framework is intended to be a long-term ten year plan and the implementation plans will cover the next three to five years."
