BritomartIntroduction | The transport centre | Transport in Auckland Transport in AucklandThe underground station at Britomart is connected to the rail corridors via an underground tunnel near the Beach Rd railway station, and receives suburban and inter-city trains coming from the west, south and east. The transport interchange makes existing services faster and more convenient, but the design is also flexible enough to allow for changes in the future. It could be adapted for trams or light rail travelling on Queen St, and there is the potential to build a new rail link from the CBD to the western line and the North Shore. Britomart provides people with more options for travelling around the Auckland region, whether by bus, train, or ferry, with easy transfers between trips. While the completion of this important project is a big step forward, more work is needed to deal with growing traffic congestion. Auckland City is working closely with other agencies to make improvements to the region's transport network over the next 10 years. These plans include:
