Funding

A combination of the council's rates revenue and regional and central government funding will be used to fund land purchases and road widening. The Dominion Road 2016 project will also benefit from Auckland City Council's transport targeted rate.

Approximately $40m is budgeted for land purchase, with a further $40m estimated for widening, some streetscape improvements such as planting trees and upgrading pavements, and relocating services - for example, telecommunications and under-grounding electricity services. Streetscape improvements will also be funded by the council's operating budget as assets come up for maintenance and renewal.
