Great South Road bus lanes proposal

Auckland City Council is proposing to introduce evening peak time bus lanes, between 3pm and 7pm, in the southbound direction along Great South Road, between Broadway and Green Lane West.

The new bus lanes would duplicate existing bus lanes already in place on the northbound side of Great South Road to provide faster, more reliable bus services during both morning and evening peaks.

The council is committed to play its part in developing a passenger transport network across the region. The Great South Road bus lane proposal is a significant component of the plan, joining existing bus lanes along Broadway and Khyber Pass in the north, and bus lanes being developed as part of Project Greenlane in the south.

The proposal involves the temporary removal of parking in some areas when the bus lanes are operational.
