Mt Wellington Quarry link road investigationThe Mt Wellington Quarry, on Lunn Avenue, is under development as a residential subdivision. The nearby University of Auckland's Tamaki campus and their National Centre of Research Excellence are being developed, Auckland Netball Association's new facilities are being built at the adjacent Ngahue Reserve and there are changes in land use occurring within the surrounding Business 4 and 5 zoned areas (as outlined in the District Plan - Isthmus section). There have also been plan changes in Panmure and Glen Innes to allow for intensification. To accommodate this growth, better access is required throughout the quarry area. Auckland City has been investigating options to put in a link road to the southeast of the quarry. These investigations are now completed and a preferred option selected. This option was selected following public consultation during June/July 2005, during which public feedback was sought and considered. The preferred optionThe proposed quarry link road extends from a new roundabout at the junction of Merton and College roads and heads in a south-easterly direction past the new Auckland Netball Association complex. The preferred option connects to Morrin Road just north of Homestead Drive, then travels east along Morrin Road and across the railway line to Pilkington Road, opposite the northern end of Coates Crescent. See link below for a map of the proposed link road. This preferred option was selected as it provided:
