Welcome to Auckland City's online bylaws. The Auckland
City Consolidated Bylaw 1998 is being reviewed. As the review of each part
is completed and formally adopted by Council, it will come out of the
Consolidated Bylaw 1998 and become and independent part with its own date of
adoption. This means that the controls that are in place in relation to any
particular activity will remain in force until actually changed as part of the
review. (Any particular provision/control may be deleted, maintained or
strengthened and, new provisions/controls may be added, as part of the review
process.)

The Bylaw stems from a variety of legislation which empowers councils to
carry out administrative functions not covered under their District Plans. A
bylaw is a rule or regulation made by a local authority which affects the
public, which orders something to be done, or in some cases, not to be done.
