Auckland City Council District Plan
The District Plan is a legal document that helps us manage the city's natural
and physical resources. There are three sections of the plan. To find out specific development and activity rules for
a property, select the relevant section of the plan according to the location of
the property.
Covers the main Auckland isthmus area excluding the central area.
Covers the area of downtown Auckland bounded by the motorway network,
Stanley Street in Parnell and the waterfront.
Hauraki Gulf Islands section
Covers islands in the Hauraki Gulf including Waiheke, Rakino and Great
Barrier Islands. There are also many smaller islands - more than 65 islands in total.
*During the transitional period prior to the decision version of the plan being made operative, both the operative HGI Plan (1996) and the decision HGI
Plan (2009) must be considered for proposals for property development.
