Safe Swim
Safe Swim is a monitoring programme where council tests the water quality
at
popular beaches over the summer.
Water samples are collected weekly on
Wednesdays by helicopter or hand and the results are available to the public by
Friday. Additional monitoring is done following sewage overflows, as these can affect
beach water quality.
The 2007/2008 monitoring season
ran from 7 November 2007 until 23 April 2008.
