Background
Auckland City Council has plans to upgrade the sports field lights at Cox's Bay Reserve.
New lights are needed because the current lights are not of an adequate standard for sports training. In addition, the current lights are not
directional which means there is a lot of light spill into neighbouring properties.
New lights will improve visibility on the sports fields for players and reduce glare for neighbours.
Plans
Auckland City Council proposes to remove the six existing lights around sports field three and install six new lights around sports field two.
The new lights will be tall 16.5m directional lights that will provide clearer vision for players and minimise light spill for neighbouring properties.
They will normally operate during winter months between 1 April and 31 August and would not be used later than 10pm.
Some of the lights will be removed during the summer months and stored upright in the south west of the park.
Work to install the new lights is likely to be begin in winter 2008.
