Auckland Netball Centre

The new netball complex at Ngahue Reserve Mt Wellington is part of New Zealand's biggest urban renewal project at Tamaki Edge.

The project was undertaken as an Auckland Netball and Auckland City Council partnership, with Auckland City Council contributing nearly $7 million of the $13 million cost. The new complex will enable Auckland Netball to host major regional and national tournaments.

In addition to funding, Auckland City also provided the site. This is on reserve land currently being leased to Auckland Netball.

This is the main netball venue in Auckland city and services some 35 netball clubs, as well as a secondary schools competition.

Stage one incorporates 26 outdoor courts, three indoor courts, an administration pavilion and 460 car parks. Stage two will see the number of outdoor courts rise to 46 and the indoor courts to eight, together with a further 340 parking spaces.

When the courts are not being used by Auckland Netball, they will be available to a wide variety of other users. Auckland City Council is keen to develop a sharing arrangement with Auckland Tennis so that the courts can be used by tennis players during the summer.

At any other time when the courts are not being used for netball competition or training, or for Auckland Tennis purposes, they will be freely available to the general public.

A public toilet is available on site and will be open from dawn to dusk each day.

Auckland City Council's contribution reflects the importance the council places on developing community facilities in areas targeted for growth.
