Otahuhu community and recreation facilities

Overview | Background research | Recreation precinct | Location | Recreation and youth centre (Stage one) | Swimming pool and library (Stage two) | Have your say

Overview

Since 1997, Auckland City Council has been investigating the provision of new community facilities in Otahuhu. A summary of all the research is available in Background research. In November 2002, the council decided that the best approach for meeting the community needs in Otahuhu was to develop the Otahuhu recreation precinct.

A master plan for the recreation precinct was approved in February 2004. It was agreed the precinct will be developed in stages:

  • Stage one was the recreation and youth centre, completed in March 2006
  • Stage two will be the swimming pool and library, with planning starting in March 2008.
  • Stage three could be a new community centre. We need to decide whether the community centre is included before the swimming and library is developed.
