Mayoral Task Force on Sustainable Development
The Mayoral Task Force on Sustainable Development was set up to suggest practical steps the council could take towards creating a
sustainable city.
The task force did not create policy for the council, but rather made recommendations that were considered as part of
creating 'Keeping Auckland's future bright: our long-term plan for a sustainable Auckland',
aspects of which are to be considered by the City Development committee in
March.
The task force was made up of business people from the private sector and experts from other cities, along with environmental and
technology experts. Auckland City councillors were also on the panel.
The task force made its recommendations to the Urban Strategy and Governance Committee in February 2007.
