Youth space - Mt Roskill
Youth space takes shape
Plans for the new youth facility at 740 Sandringham Road Extension are taking
shape.
Research and engagement with local youth, the community and stakeholders
identified the need for a youth space to improve the quality of life of young
people in the area.
The new facility will provide a dedicated space for local youth to spend time in
and includes features such as an indoor basketball court, art space, hang out
area and much more.
Location
The proposed site is located behind the Wesley Community Centre, 744 Sandringham
Road Extension, at the northern entrance to the Mt Roskill War Memorial Park.
The proposed building will occupy part of the space currently containing the
Owairaka Athletics club.
This site has been selected as most suitable because:
- it is centrally located for youth
- it is on public transport routes
- it is next to the existing Community Centre
The Athletics Club and Council have agreed that the existing Owairaka Athletics
club building be removed and provision has been made within the new building for
the club.
