Tree prosecution brings fineFrom City Scene, published on 18 May, 2008 A developer has been fined $25,000 for ignoring district plan rules on generally protected trees, sediment control and earthworks. The council brought the prosecution after several generally protected trees were destroyed, pruned or topped by the developer without resource consent. Auckland District Court Judge Dwyer said the evidence showed the defendant had “decimated the significant and protected trees” on the Hillsborough property.
