Resealed footpaths mean easier walking

Auckland City Council has resealed footpaths in Kohimarama, Westmere and Western Springs as part of its commitment to maintaining and upgrading the city's 1141km of footpaths.

Upgrades include Long Drive, Hanene Street, Lammermoor Road and Grampian Road in Kohimarama; William Denny Avenue, Warnock Street, Warwick Avenue, Nottingham Street, Dorset Street, Cumberland Avenue and Chester Avenue in Westmere; and Westview Terrace in Western Springs.

Cycle and walkway.

Path provides accessible route to CBD

Cyclists and pedestrians are now safer on our city's streets with the completion of a shared footpath that can comfortably accommodate both cyclists and pedestrians.

The path, in Onehunga, means cyclists can now travel from the CBD to the old Mangere bridge on a network of cycling and walking routes. The walkway is a great way to get exercise and take in the scenic views of the harbour. More work on this route is planned for the future.

Pedestrian refuge.

Safer crossing in Mt Wellington

Road crossings around the Sylvia Park area of Mt Wellington have been made safer, especially for people with prams and mobility scooters, thanks to recent improvements.

The council has also put in other pedestrian safety improvements in this area, in particular the area surrounding Bailey Road School.

New landscaping in Arch Hill Reserve.

Arch Hill Reserve cleaned up

People can now enjoy Grey Lynn's upgraded Arch Hill Reserve after it was landscaped with nearly 700 native plants.

The planting followed a three-week clean-up of the reserve when the council removed buried asbestos-based roofing material, found while upgrading a walkway.
