Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga leaves council
Resigned: Peseta
Sam Lotu-Iiga
From City Scene, published on 1 November, 2009.
At the council meeting on Thursday, 22 October, Peseta
Sam Lotu-Iiga resigned as a councillor.
He cited the need to concentrate more time on his duties
as the MP for Maungakiekie.
Mr Lotu-Iiga was elected as a representative of the
Tamaki-Maungakiekie ward, and was chairperson of the City Development
Committee until 11 September last year. In November last year he was elected
as a member of parliament at the general election.
Auckland City Council thanked Mr Lotu-Iiga for his
contributions. As City Scene went to print, no official decision has been made
about the status of the now-vacant Tamaki-Maungakiekie ward seat.
The council is likely to discuss the vacancy at its next
meeting, and choose whether to appoint a replacement or leave the seat vacant.
