We also have a particular focus on community arts and are always keen to add new artists to our data base, who we can draw on to be involved in future projects. If you would like to have your name added to our artists database please email us your CV. Learn more about community arts >> Obtaining funding to create artThere are two main funding opportunities available through Auckland City Council for artists. Creative Communities if funded by Creative New Zealand and given to local authorities to distribute to community arts projects that increase active participation in the arts. Auckland City Council is currently involved in a pilot scheme being run by Creative New Zealand until June 2009. Learn more about Creative Communities >> Arts Alive is an Auckland City Council arts grant programme that aims to build audiences for the professional performing arts, and develop and maintain Auckland's performing arts infrastructure. Develop new skills to assist them as professional practicing artistsThe Business of Arts Seminar Series 2008Auckland City Council and the School of Art and Design at AUT are running this free three part educational opportunity that will enhance your capabilities as a business person working in Auckland's creative industries. This is a unique opportunity for artists, art managers, producers and community art groups to develop their arts management skills. Led by leading art sector analysts and practitioners the series covers three critical areas of the people skills needed by arts managers - communication, marketing and strategy. These accessible evening seminars will be held monthly at AUT and are provided free of charge, however spaces are strictly limited.
