Advisory panel for Public Art (APPA)
In 2008, Auckland City Council established the Advisory Panel for Public Art
(APPA) to provide expert advice in the development and management of its public
art programme and on public art projects.
The APPA work with the council to ensure the city achieves high quality public
art outcomes, effective relationships with partners and the arts sector, and high
public confidence in its public art programme.
They provide advice on the alignment of the council's public art programme and
public art projects with the overarching goals of the council's Public Art Policy
as well as providing input to regular reviews of the public art programme.
Members of the APPA also act as ambassadors and advocates for quality public
art in the city.
The APPA was selected after the council advertised for expressions of interest,
candidates submitted applications and interviews were held. Members are elected
for a three-year term. There are four independent positions as well as five nominated
positions from relevant representative bodies.
