We are proud to sponsor this event that captures the imagination of Aucklanders and visitors alike as it blends sport, fashion, celebration and glamour.

The Auckland Racing Club will build on the success of the inaugural Auckland Cup Week in March 2006 with a summer carnival at Ellerslie to celebrate a 150 year milestone for the club.

The Auckland Cup is the most well known race in the country and is an icon of Ellerslie and the city of Auckland. It was first held in 1874.

The three major racing days are:

• Mercedes Derby Day on 1 March
• Auckland Cup Day on 5 March
• Diamond Day on 8 March.

Many ancillary events make up Auckland Cup Week including the Auckland Cup Week Parade of Champions on 4 March at 12.30pm. Watch former Auckland Cup winners and racing celebrities (equine and human) march down Broadway, Newmarket in a colourful carnival display.
