The Qantas Film and Television Awards 2008 are a result of merging the New Zealand Screen Awards and the Film and Television Awards in to the industries most prestigious event.

Entries for the 2008 Awards closed on Friday 4 July, and award finalists will be announced on Tuesday August 12.

This year there are 58 different categories of achievement. The awards represent excellence in New Zealand for the film and television industries, celebrating the best productions and individual contributions over the past year.

21 awards will be presented at the Qantas Film and Television Craft Awards luncheon on Friday 12 September and then on the evening of Saturday 13 September, at Auckland's Civic Theatre, the remaining 37 film and television awards will be presented at the Qantas Film and Television Awards Gala.

Auckland city is home to 39 per cent of the country's creative industries. We are committed to supporting growth, recognising creative industries and nurturing creative talent in the city.
